To give simple access to the energy data for the nation, the government came up with the Indian energy dashboard version 2.0. During the launch of India energy dashboards, Rajiv Kumar addressed that work needs to be done to form a central energy database of the country. Rajiv Kumar is the vice-chairman of Niti Aayog.
Rajiv Kumar added that due to the increasing modern energy technology and renewables, the exchange between the energy supply and demand areas is rapidly becoming critical. He further stressed that an efficient energy dashboard building is crucial because the nation requires contemporary opportunities in a better way so that we can have a sustainable future.
The Indian government think tank Niti Aayog has come up with IED which is India energy dashboards version 2.0. The first version was launched back in May 2017.
A Deep Insight Into The Launch Of India Energy Dashboards 2.0
The Saubhagya Scheme
This is the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar. It was initiated in 2017. The main objective of the scheme launched in September was to provide electricity to all houses in India till the end of 2018.
The states of India have declared on the portal of saubhagya that all the houses that did not have electricity have now been provided with electricity till the end of March 2019. Around 19000 households having left-wing extremism in Chhattisgarh had un-electrified households.
The UJALA Scheme
It is the Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All. It is an important scheme launched by the government of India which has zero subsidies. In 2015 this scheme came up as one of the largest domestic lighting projects across the globe.
According to this scheme, any domestic household which has a metre connection from a particular electricity distribution company can receive LED bulbs to light their houses.
PRAAPTI
It is Payment Ratification And Analysis in Power Procurement for bringing transparency to invoicing of generators.
Praapti is also a big initiative by the government in 2018. It was launched by the ministry of power. As per the scheme the companies of power distribution can look into the invoices and cater to the claims and questions put up by the generators under the praapti portal.
Vidyut PRAVAH
This is a mobile application that gives real-time data about the current demand that has been met. It also shows if there are any shortages. It provides data about surplus power and the rate of power exchange.
Conclusion
Indian energy dashboard is an effort to form single window access to the energy consumption of the nation. It is an important step to form an open and comprehensive energy data portal for India. Board will contain the entire data related to energy. The data will be given by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Central Electricity Authority, and Coal Controller’s Organisation.
It will have the data of the time series from the financial years 2005 and 2006 until the financial year 2019-20. Come up with data at an early frequency and this will incorporate application programming interface (API) and monthly data. This will be managed by the agencies of the government.
The data linked from Vidyut, PRAAPTI, and Saubhagya have been fed into the dashboard.
